Established in 2006, Elgin White is a London-based financial recruitment company. Their success can be attributed to their deep understanding of the banking and financial technology sectors together with their expertise in recruiting.

Soon after Elgin began their business, the founders addressed a number of key business challenges that resulted in them replacing their original applicant tracking system (ATS).

Reduce Operational Risk

Elgin’s recruiters stored their resumes on their computer hard drives, putting their data security at risk. If a recruiter’s computer crashed, there was no back-up. Further, since the data was not centralized, it was not possible to have centralized records for clients and candidates that all of the recruiters could access. Thus, Elgin needed to move their resumes to a centralized, offsite, hosted data facility. “We did not want the risk of storing resumes on our staff’s local hard drives, and I didn’t like the idea of building an in-house database that would require a dedicated IT Manager, not to mention the expense,” remarks Dan Cooney, Director at Elgin White.

Optimize Employee Productivity

Managing the rapidly growing number of qualified candidate resumes became increasingly important to Elgin. Dan states, “Working with lots of candidates and client data in spreadsheets and resumes in MS® Outlook became increasingly difficult to manage. It became more and more difficult to search effectively for suitable candidates.”

While a couple of Elgin’s recruiters had already been using a sales contact management system, they quickly realized that they needed features well beyond basic contact management to effectively manage their recruiting workflow.

Revenue Growth

To keep up with their business growth goals, Elgin needed a scalable ATS where new users could be easily added and trained and everyone could access a centralized database.

Elgin looked at a number of ATSs and found that MaxHire was the best fit.

Up and Running Fast

From setting up a trial period to installing and using MaxHire as Elgin’s mission critical ATS, “A key point of the process was the simplicity of the whole thing. Using MaxHire, our new recruiters wouldn’t have to rely on an internal IT resource,” explains Dan.

Straightforward and Easy to Use

Elgin found MaxHire much easier to understand than other ATS systems. “MaxHire is a simple solution that got us up and running quickly. Training was really straight forward and effective. Downloading the application onto our desktops and installing is very easy. The user interface is self-explanatory,” states Dan.

Advanced Searching Capabilities

“Using MaxHire, we import thousands of resumes and use the searching capabilities frequently. We pick up resumes that we know that we wouldn’t have found if we were just scratching around using the system we had before MaxHire”, explains Dan.

Better Operational Risk Management

The more Elgin uses MaxHire, the more they rely on it. “The MaxHire database application continues to grow and build value for us. From a risk management perspective, the resumes that were in-house are now uploaded to MaxHire and are considered safe,” remarks Dan.

Dan explains, “We are able to grow our business with the help of the scalable and easy to use MaxHire Solution. We take comfort that MaxHire will continually add features to help increase our recruiter’s productivity while maintaining the ease of use that MaxHire has always offered us.”
