TITLE: Purchasing Analyst/Buyer
Reports to: Manager
Location: GTA West
Salary: 55-60,000 per annum
Role:
You will be responsible for inventory control, processing orders, negotiating with vendors on terms, conditions and costs, dealing with other buyers to ensure proper inventories are purchased at the appropriate times, managing customer dedicated stock, and creating and maintaining purchasing master data and MRP parameters. This position will provide replenishment of inventory at the best possible price based on extensive data analysis to ensure optimal stocking levels are maintained i.e. to meet service level and inventory investment goals.
Responsibilities:
Analyze key measurements, monitor changes affecting supply and demand, track market conditions, price trends to increase Inventory turns while maintaining service levels.
Analyze requests to determine optimum stocking levels and location. Ensuring the hub and inventory system is optimized. To ensure transfers between branches are cost effective. (Supplier minimums, transportation requirements, etc.);
Analyze price proposals and other data and information to determine required costs. Interface with sales and marketing to determine appropriate stocking solutions, offering alternatives;
Review system parameters to ensure they are optimized and accurate. Parameters such as supplier lead times, lot sizes, safety stocks.
Determine products that should no longer be stocked and take appropriate action;
Inventory Reporting - Regularly report on inventory indexes.
Assist in developing strategic purchasing programs
Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
Negotiate, or renegotiate, pricing, special discounts, rebates, terms and conditions with vendors.
Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price in correct amounts.
Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up undelivered goods.
Ensures purchase order(s) reflect current commitments. Re-schedules open orders; expedite all open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.
Must be able to work in a fast pasted, continuously changing environment.
Strong negotiator with the ability to multi task and work within Microsoft Office
Minimum of 3 years experience in Purchasing, Negotiating, Forecasting and Inventory.Planning and analysis
Working knowledge of SAP MM functionality.
Post secondary education and purchasing accreditation through the Purchasing Management Association of Canada
French-English bilingualism are assets.
