Job Description:

Our client is a major consulting organization based in the Toronto area who perform large scale implementation and integration projects in the technology and Web arena.

Due to their growth they now have the opportunity to hire some of the best professionals in the web/interactive space.

One of those new opportunities is in the area of Information Architecture for web-related and desktop applications.

The Senior Information Architect will be responsible for performing a lead role in the research and design efforts for customer and user-facing systems and communications. This position will work directly with our client's Interactive Group as well as their delivery teams to develop strategies and design specifications that will improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of customer facing interfaces.

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in linking business and technical objectives with good design aesthetics and an outstanding user experience.

Responsibilities and Experience:
• Designing original and effective transaction interfaces for existing and new products and services
• Aggressively responding to market and usability testing results, using mockups, prototypes, user flows, and detailed design specification documents to define and communicate interface concepts and requirements, ensuring consistency and ease of use for clients.
• Collaborating with product managers, designers, engineers, and a cross-functional business team including representatives from sales, product management, delivery, and quality assurance.
• Initiating usability studies and surveys set objectives, running test sessions, interpreting results and reviewing findings with team members.
• Translating user research findings into design decisions
• Creating detailed design specifications
• Designing navigation, interaction and nomenclature systems
• Applying modular and systematic approaches to user experience design
• Gathering business requirements and specifications from high level marketing agency concepts

Requirements:
• 5 or more years in user interface design with experience in designing usable web-based interfaces, with mass-market consumer products and ecommerce sites preferred
• University and/or College degree in graphic design or equivalent experience
• Distilling and organizing large amounts of complex information into simple, useful, and usable application designs
• Conducting heuristic analysis and assessments
• Proficiency with rapid prototyping tools such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver Director/Flash, Visio, etc
• Familiarity with HTML, DHTML & Javascript
• Strong experience with web-based document management services
• Background in Internet Services related projects
• Familiarity with enterprise-class web applications and related technologies
• Ability to work with business leaders in a professional, consultative fashion
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills (both technical and non-technical)
• Understand business objectives and design applications that achieve them.
