Job Description:
Our client is a large Canadian Financial Services institution based in Toronto and they are looking for an Editorial Specialist (English). The Editorial Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, creating, reviewing and updating English content, as well as ensuring brand standards and consistency is maintained for all of our clients’ Internet Channel initiatives. Other duties may include revising English marketing, instructional or editorial copy. Assignments will range in scope from coordinating and revising large projects to quick editing requests. They may also assist in publishing this copy to our client’s clients Web sites. Responsibilities: Managing all facets of the editorial process on a day-to-day basis for requests to marketing and secure sites which includes: Assessing requests received from function team and business partners and understanding the business objectives of the assigned communication Managing the flow of requests through any external service providers such as agencies and 3rd party providers Performing quality assurance on published content ensuring English copy from clients/external partners is accurate and meets organizational standards Coordinating review of content the function team and business partners Creating and managing copy decks for all the web sites Writing original copy, based on organizational standards and best practices Creating and maintaining version control for copy decks and editorial change logs Completing quick editorial requests received from various teams throughout the Internet Channel: Performing quality assurance on published content ensuring English copy from clients/external partners is accurate and meets organizational standards Coordinating review of content the function team and business partners Coordinating with others in the Channel to provide required editorial reviews Work with others to meet evolving business needs while ensuring cost efficiency and effectiveness: Editing copy for style, tone, grammar and organization In partnership with relationship managers, project team and Business Partners negotiate definition of project scope and timelines while managing Business Partner expectations Leading the team in the analysis of each initiative to ensure review of content and resourcing objectives are addressed while maximizing value add to our Business Partners Providing backup support to Bilingual Editorial Specialist Providing review of responses to customers submitted by Internet Channel Correspondence agents for style, tone, grammar and organizational standards Preparing copy for, and entering copy into, the client’s publishing tools, if required Requirements: 1-2 years writing/editing experience for Web environment 2-3 years writing/editing experience with 1-2 years in a Web and editorial environment Proven Web writing and editing skills Journalism, Communications, English degree (or equivalent work experience) Ability to write and proofread a wide range of Web communications Detail-oriented Ability to effectively manage multiple activities for multiple initiatives of varying complexity while under time constraints Comfortable working in a team environment with minimal supervision Ability to build and use effective working relationships within own function and across function and business partners to achieve optimal results. Enthusiasm and knowledge of the Internet culture, Web culture and financial institutions would be definite assets Previous experience in a financial institution an asset Experience with defect tracking software, such as HP Quality Center Experience validating web pages
