Our client is looking for a dynamic, strong, innovative, analytical marketing leader to implement programs to drive sales. This is for someone who is lives and breathes B2C online marketing.

Our client is backed by one of the big four online book merchandisers and is doing to books what iTunes did for music. Be the person in the office for this new and exciting venture into the future of reading. This role is about being at the starting line of the electronic books revolution.

We need someone with excellent strategic thinking and constant iteration to ensure that our client is investing in the areas most likely to generate the highest return for the marketing dollar over the long term. The Director will be the right-hand person under the Chief Marketing Officer and co-manage the marketing team.

You will be responsible for developing and executing key marketing strategies, budget and team management.

You will be able to develop and launch comprehensive Go-to-Market plans including media buys, ad creative development and messaging, and analyzing metrics and ROI. The ideal candidate must be a creative thought leader on the topic of consumer product marketing and have the focus and passion to provide leadership and continuous success on the products and programs that he or she manages. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of the marketing, product, business development, technology and sales teams as well as daily interaction with senior management.

The ideal candidate is a passionate consumer marketing leader who has a track record of achieving (and measuring) great results through innovative marketing programs. He or she must be adept at direct to consumer marketing and have successfully implemented plans that leverage multimedia channels globally. This marketing leader will be passionate about measuring results and ROI and not just driving short term results (price cutting promotions) at the expense of long term gain. You have been known for trying new things and not only working within the tried and true marketing techniques/channels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement global platform play powering Retailers, Mobile OEM’s and operators.
  • Conceptualize user requirements and develop plans to meet their needs, incorporating cross-functional input, and market research/analytics.
  • Develop and execute on key marketing activities - media buys, working with internal teams or outside vendors, creating effective marketing messaging for ads and press outreach, and providing creative direction.
  • Deliver results-driven integrated marketing campaigns that span all marketing disciplines such as but not limited to promotions, loyalty, viral programs, email, event marketing and direct mail. Drive cross-functional teams to develop and execute on marketing plans.
  • Work to continuously improve and promote offerings and optimize response/ROI on marketing initiatives. Work closely within the Marketing team to lead cross-functional efforts to achieve usage, conversion, revenue and ROI targets.
  • Maintain deep understanding of eReading/eBook product offerings, global market environment and competitive positioning.

Desired Qualifications:

  • The love to build a wicked ebook retailer from ground-zero.
  • Minimum of eight years in consumer marketing, product planning, product management, and/or product marketing. In-depth understanding of online sales, publishing and mobile industry.
  • Solid people management skills
  • Solid budget management skills
  • Complete understanding of all marketing disciplines.
  • Experience with consumer online marketing& sales.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and creativity in successfully structuring and managing consumer marketing projects.
  • Technical adaptation - ability to ramp up and demonstrate working knowledge of new technical concepts in a timely manner.
  • Self starter and proven performer with demonstrated track record for successfully bringing products to market and growing market share.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders in a fast paced, global & entrepreneurial environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as well as project management skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills.
  • Degree/Diploma required.
