Our North Dallas oil and gas client is looking for a mid to senior level Landman to join their team
Purpose:
Acquires and secures access to properties for exploration and operational purposes including obtaining required permits, performing title curative and preparing property maps. Provides assistance to other department staff in completing complex assignments.
Job Functions:
1. Identifies and researches properties for potential land acquisition and securing drilling locations. Conducts courthouse research and title search to determine ownership, land classification and regulatory considerations.
2. Negotiates leases and rights-of-way for properties and prepares and processes other agreements working with the legal department and property owners.
3. Performs title curative and review to determine ownership and potential liability issues including easements, assessments and liens, and obtains required signatures on all documents.
4. Obtains operating permits prior to exploratory efforts, and obtains and files all related documents.
5. Prepares property maps for construction commencement activities.
6. Researches and resolves property damage claims ensuring appropriate and timely settlements.
7. Participates in lease analysis and determines rental payment delays and reporting requirements.
8. Performs site investigations and monitors construction activity ensuring all applicable permits are filed and current. Surveys and reports on reclamation activities on lands where surface disturbance has occurred.
9. Prepares and processes agreements and assignments, and maintains project files including property maps, county claim plats, master title plats and related documents.
10. Provides guidance and assistance to department staff in resolving issues or completing large-scale or complex projects.
11. Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years real estate and contract negotiation experience in land exploration or related industry.
Must have experience in East Texas and Louisiana
CPL certification is highly preferred
