Job Description:
Required Experience/Qualifications:
- An ideal candidate should have at least 5 - 8 years of experience in managing MySQL data bases
- Must have experience w/ TB size databases and high volume.
- Should be proficient in:
- Setting up SQL databases with the optimal configuration parameters for a web application
- Database design/modeling, performance tuning, partitioning
- Managing the day to day operations
- Setting up monitors for the system's health check
- Replication, backup, recovery and optimization techniques
- Setting up automatic data lifecycle management (archival, purging, index rebuilding, etc.)
- Sound in DB design / E-R diagrams
- Should be able to review application queries and suggest improvements for performance.
- Should know script programming and basic UNIX administration.
Desired Experience: - Experience in working with MySQL (which we use) in web applications in a high traffic environment.
- Experience with Oracle and clear understanding of the differences between Oracle and MySQL.
- Experience with Oracle is a plus
- Experience in storage systems administration.
You will be responsible for mentoring 2 Senior DBA's that are remote and may be on call in case of a crash.
