• Manage the flow of products and services from vendors to sales
• Coordinate 3-member team of buyers and planners
• Assist in developing strategic vendor partnerships
• Monitor and manage critical costs
• Proactively Enhance MRP processes and procedures
• Maintain good working relationship with sales to maximize supplier involvement in sales process
• Define and achieve goals and objectives consistent with driving company profitability
• Annual spend is $15 million on commodities/purchase freight /packaging products & services no manufacturing.
• International buying in Asia & Europe
  will interface with their UK operations on developing global synergies between operations.
• Must understand 3rd Party Logistics

Requirements:

• Minimum 5-years experience managing the planning and procurement of products and services in a multi-faceted operation. The position requires a demonstrated track record of achievement in the following areas: logistics, international freight forwarding. Packaging experience a plus.
• College degree
• APICS or C.P.M. (or in process)
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
• Demonstrated people management skills
• Strong work ethic
• Experience with MAS 90/200 system preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Expectations for this position are as follows:

1.      Incorporate supply chain / procurement function into sales process

a.     define interaction between sales / customers and supply chain / vendors.

b.     map out current procedures and recommend needed changes.

c.     review and modify (if and as needed) the RFQ / pricing process.

d.     fully involve major vendors in sales process .

e.     hold sales group accountable to providing a workable rolling forecast.

2.      Define companies model for vendor partnerships – i.e.  exclusive, free-for-all, hybrid, etc.

a.     develop supply strategy for top 5 product lines by $ volume purchases, including primary / secondary supply, off-    shore / import, and exit strategies.

b.     develop vendor qualification procedures :

                             i.      conduct annual vendor evaluations.

                             ii.      win at least 1 supplier recognition award each year.

c.     implement formal supplier agreements for all $1-million+ vendors.

d.     track critical raw material costs:

                              i.      aggressively review with vendors at least quarterly.

                             ii.      develop resist / squeeze policy.

e.     investigate viable partnerships with out of market distributors.

3.      Manage global purchasing of products and services

a.     Develop MRP processes and procedures appropriate to our various business models.

b.     Maintain overall inventory at levels consistent with minimum 8 stock turns per year.

c.     Ensure accurate and timely set-up of items, costs, pricing, reorder points, etc. in system.

4.      Improve skills and abilities

a.     Pursue full accreditation as professional supply chain manager

b.     Participate in ongoing management training.

c.     Enroll in a skill-based management course(s) each year.
