REQUIREMENTS:

o   Proficient with relational database development, preferably Oracle 10g or greater.

o   Fluent with DDL, DML, complex SQL, and PL/SQL.

o   Produced one or more commercial application.

o   Proficient with UNIX as a development and deployment platform.

o   Familiar with Internet Technologies such as HTTP, HTML, XML, ftp, etc.

o   Experience using schema design tools such as ERwin or Oracle Designer.

o   Experience developing reports and performing data analysis.

o   Working understanding of current software design practices and software project management methodologies, such as agile and waterfall.

o   Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C, C++, ruby, python.

o   Accepts ownership of important database processes.

o   Good communication skills.

o   Four year college degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Your day-to-day direction will come from team leads and your manager. You will have the opportunity to provide significant input into solution design .  Plus, you will be given responsibility for constructing and owning significant portions of source code and live production database systems and services; you will be expected to refactor and maintain these areas over time.

On a technical front, you should have a solid working understanding of relational databases (Oracle experience is preferred), internet technologies, systems hardware and software infrastructure, and one or more programming languages, plus one or more scripting languages.  You will work in a multi-terabyte sized database environment, composed of many servers and hundreds of processes , so it is important that you can conceptualize in terms of “systems” as opposed to single programs.   Specific technologies you will be exposed to include: Oracle, SQL, perl, XML, XML-RPC, UML, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle APEX, relational database DML and DDL, C, HTML, Java, and UNIX.
