Job Description:

Goodman Networks, a professional services company serving the wireline and wireless telecommunications industry, is a National Vendor for AT&T Mobility, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Andrew Corp., and Alcatel/Lucent. Goodman Networks is currently seeking a Resident Engineer to join our client in Seattle, WA (Perm Opportunity).

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and foster an outstanding relationship with the customer that has been built up over the years
• Work with the customer to define new product ideas and feature enhancements and represent those ideas back to our Product Management team
• Assist in introducing and testing new products and features feature enhancements to the customer at their premises
• Work closely with customers to determine suitable applications of products and features within their network and identify solutions to their needs using our products
• Consult with customer to determine solutions to network expansion issues, including redundancy, rerouting and load balancing.
• Assist in high-level troubleshooting of network issues, with the assistance of the Customer Support Group
• Perform the role of single point of contact to the customer for major issue management and resolution.
• Work with customer's engineering groups, NOC and Tier 3 support to resolve product defects and product enhancement requests
• Assist in identifying, specifying and testing of customer-specific software toolsets

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sales Engineer or equivalent, preferrably with a switch manufacturer
• Minimum 5 years of large network design and operational experience
• Expertise in IP networking level 1 and 2 with some level 3
• Expertise with switches and routers, including load balancing, rerouting protocols,VLANs and QOS
• Strong routing/switching experience including work with BGP, OSPF and RSTP required. MPLS or PBB-TE experience preferred.
• Cisco router and switch experience required. Juniper router and firewall (JunOS and ScreenOS) and Ciena experience preferred.
• Linux and Solaris administration skills preferred.
• Familiarity with at least one scripting language preferred.
• Working knowledge of SNMP managers, Element Managers, Network Managers such as CiscoWorks, HPOpenview, NetCool
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to comfortably interact with senior management within the customer organization
• Strong work ethic and team player
• A self-starter that is able to work independently
