Goodman Networks, a professional services company serving the wireline and wireless telecommunications industry, is a National Vendor for AT&T, Andrew Corp., Sprint/Nextel, and Alcatel. We are currently seeking a skilled Transportation Planner to work out of Plano, TX.
Overview
This position will drive tactical day-to-day activities as well as participate in the development of strategy and policy for the logistics transportation function. Responsible for identifying potential carriers and negotiating freight rates with partner carriers to provide domestic and international freight services. Establish processes and procedures for compliance activities while coordinating the development of customs documents as necessary. Establish and report key metrics (KPI’s) for each carrier in order to monitor service levels. Identify and implement cost saving opportunities while working in a matrix organizational structure.
Responsibilities
Participate in the development and implementation of a company routing guide
Monitor, track and report incoming and outgoing transportation performance of partner carriers
Monitor, track and report freight spend
Determine and implement freight saving opportunities
Negotiate freight rates with carriers
Prepare customs documents as necessary
Respond to inquiries regarding report and tracking information
Maintain current knowledge of county, State and Federal transportation regulations
Requirements
7+ years experience in Transportation / Freight management
4+ years experience in Customs Compliance for imports / exports
Expert user of Excel and Oracle
Proven ability to use initiative and drive to achieve results
Demonstrated knowledge of Lean Principles and Continuous Improvement
Understanding of Hazmat regulations. Hazmat certification preferred.
