Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant will have shared responsibilities for a wide range of accounting functions of moderate to advanced level of complexity and is responsible for contributing to the effective operation of the Finance Department.

 

This is a 12 month term position.

 

Responsibilities & Key Tasks:

 

- Support Controller on analysis and projects as required

- Assist in the review and preparation of quarterly forecasts

- Prepare and review journal entries, supports schedules, and maintain the general ledger

- Assist with maintenance and continuous improvement of accounting systems, including policies, processes and controls

- Execute month end close processes, ensure that all transactions are accounted for in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

- Assist in the preparation and analysis of unconsolidated and consolidated financial statements

- Monitor compliance with tax authorities and required filings

 

Qualifications:

 

- Professional accounting designation (CGA or CMA)

- 4-5 years accounting experience

- Strong work ethic and personal drive to exceed expectations

- Strong analytical and administrative skills with careful attention to detail

- Experience with project cost accounting, foreign currency, consolidations and sales tax is desirable

- Strong proficiency in Word and Excel and ability to grasp new technologies quickly; ERP experience beneficial

- Excellent communication and organizational skills with an ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment

- Outstanding interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation

 

As a self-starter, you can take initiative and are confident in your abilities to be responsible for: ensuring accuracy in reporting, strong attention to detail. Your strong analytical, organizational, IFRS and financial reporting experience will provide you with the necessary tools for success in this position.
