Job Description:
Our client, a well-established Canadian company listed on the TSX-Venture Exchange, is currently seeking a Geologist to join its team in a full time role. In this position, you will be part of a premier team of Directors and Management experienced in the discovery and development of mines. Your extensive knowledge, experience, and skill set will assist you to compliment the technical expertise and exploration techniques of the executive team. The position is based out of the Company's office in Ontario and will be exploration oriented at projects located in the Canadian Shield, primarily in Ontario. You will report to the CEO and/or other staff as designated. This organization has been involved in gold and base metal exploration and development in both Canada and Australia for over a decade. Duties and Responsibilities: - Responsible for the planning, execution and implementation of the company's mineral exploration programsDeveloping plans and budgets, managing ongoing programs
- Conducting field work and the evaluation and/or exploration of other properties for potential acquisition
- Participating in the staffing process as it relates to the hiring of additional contract or full time geologists for various exploration projects
- Participating in meetings and presentations with the management team and the company's directors
- Managing and supervising a team of contractors and consultants working on the exploration projects
- Leading and providing input into the company's geotechnical work and data management in conjunction with other team members
Competencies and Skills: - Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal; must also have strong presentation skills
- Strong analytical and management/leadership capabilities
- Must be comfortable with report writing and data interpretation
- Must possess excellent GIS computer skills including an operational understanding of: Mapinfo, Autocad and other related software
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Geology is required
- 7-10 years of mineral exploration experience and professional geologist designation are preferred
- Must have experience in the geology and mineral occurrences of the Canadian Shield, with a focus on practical deposit discovery techniques and diamond drilling as well as a sound knowledge of ore deposits and mining operations
- Experience in resource calculation would be beneficial
- Demonstrable background in regional and property-scale compilation work
