Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Cheminformatics expert with a track record of delivering high quality tools to support med chemists engaged in drug discovery efforts.

 

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • To be able to work closely with the director of the Medicinal Chemistry Group to develop a cheminformatics strategy that addresses the needs of the chemistry group;
  • To evaluate the tools currently available in the bioinformatics group
  • To identify and evaluate commercially available tools;  
  • To liaison effectively with internal and external collaborators;
  • To work effectively with the bioinformatics group;
  • To set and deliver on team goals and reach team milestones;
  • To work effectively under pressure and tight timelines;
  • To build collaborations with academic and industrial investigators;
  • To communicate effectively; 
  • To identify, evaluate and build effective relationships with potential vendors;

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in the area of Computational Chemistry or related field;
  • At least three (3) years experience in the area of cheminformatics supporting small molecule drug discovery efforts either at a pharmaceutical or a biotech company;
  • Experience in computational and medicinal chemistry;
  • Data base knowledge including publicly available ones;
  • Basic programming knowledge (Perl);
  • Experience in establishing and implementing Cheminformatics strategy for drug discovery (including LIMS, eLN, etc);
  • Great team player and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in structure-based drug design (desired);
  • Proven track record as evidenced by substantial publication and patent record;
  • Highly motivated self-starter who enjoys an element of ambiguity and is willing to adapt to a changing environment;
  • A strong knowledge of cancer biology and pharmacology is highly desirable.
