Our client is seeking an ABMG-certified/eligible Cytogeneticist to join their Cytogenetics Laboratory in Phoenix, Arizona. The position will oversee a diverse menu of tests dealing with cancer genetics. The laboratory works in close concert with molecular genetics, flow cytometry , morphology, and assay development laboratories.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Write, review and sign FISH and cytogenetic case reports and/or clinical trial studies. Assure that file contain correct clinical indication, patient information, accuracy of karyotypes or FISH images, analysis of information, and nomenclature. Case reports must be written accurately and completely.
* Assist with, or independently develop, new technologies and methods for enhanced genetic testing.
* Request additional information and/or additional tests to assure accuracy of patient results.
* Contact clients with results as necessary. Explain results clearly and accurately. Reflex case for additional studies when appropriate.
* Coordinates results with other concurrent studies.
* Is familiar with all laboratory and company procedures, policies, and SOPs.
* Participates in proficiency tests and laboratory inspections.
* Assist with continuing education of laboratory staff.
* Participate in departmental staff meetings.
* Prepare and submit interesting data/reports for publication and/or presentation.
* Adhere to company and departmental policy guidelines.
* Support organization goals.
* Maintain a professional demeanor.
* Is punctual and arrives at work on time.
* Communicate problems, concerns and questions to Director of Genetics or Appropriate Senior Management..
* Accept additional responsibilities as requested by Director of Genetics or appropriate Senior Management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Earned Doctorate in Human Genetics or related field.
* Postdoctoral Cytogenetics Laboratory experience Board Certified / Eligible, American Board of Medical Genetics, Clinical Cytogenetics.
* Previous experience in a Diagnostic Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory.
* Demonstrated experience in hematological and routine and cytogenetics and molecular cytogenetics.
