POSITION: Vice President or Director of Marketing (title depends upon experience). This is senior manager position and an individual contributor position. You will not have anyone reporting to you initially. As you hit your numbers, you may have resources and budget to build a team. But in the meantime, need someone who can wear many hats. Must be able to manage/evaluate public relations agencies and supervise their work in conceiving creative story angles.
COMPANY: Consumer-focused, internet and mobile smartphone company. The company has been getting tons of great press and is close to profitability. It is ranked in the top 50 of most essential iPhone Apps.
LOCATION: Position is located in the San Francisco Bay area (Silicon Valley). Working remotely is not an option. Board is flexible to relocate the right candidate.
COMPENSATION: Board is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate. The compensation package will include: base salary, bonus, stock options and full benefits package. There will be an emphasis on incentives for outstanding performance. The Board wants to hire someone who is very motivated.
MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: Position reports to the COO. He loves to delegate and help you be successful. He will help you set goals and priorities, then give you room to succeed. Need someone that can think independently, and come to him when necessary. Need someone who is self-disciplined and can hit the ground running. Candidates need to be highly effective at managing their own time and priorities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Must have held a marketing position within the last year with responsibility for a significant budget and online customer acquisition campaigns at an ad agency, consumer-facing internet or mobile company.
Must have been directly responsible for significantly increasing the number of customers.
Must have experience optimizing campaigns and using the budget in the smartest and most effective way.
Must have experience developing online marketing strategy & reporting system for lead generation programs including Affiliate Marketing, Paid Search (SEM), Natural Search (SEO), Media Buys and various Business Development efforts. Must have experience measuring ROI and acquisition efforts for all online advertising including keyword search, banner ads, links, CPM, CPC and CPA media spends.
Must be experienced at spreading the word and building the brand. Need someone to make sure that there is one tight cohesive message across the company.
Prefer someone with experience building a brand on smart phones/mobile phones.
Must enjoy the entrepreneurial atmosphere of a small company, but has been through the experience of scaling up an enterprise to significant organization size and revenues. Experience working in a dynamic (i.e. startup) environment is preferred.
Strong communications background and business acumen are required. Must have earned undergraduate and/or higher degrees from respected universities. Looking for candidates that are highly analytical and results focused.
