Job Description:
Linux System Administrator Principal Duties: - Problem analysis and resolution for Windows and Linux workstations and servers and for other related peripherals and systems
- Intel-hardware based Linux server installation, deployment, and upgrade
- Work effectively with other technical teams (operations, networking, project managers, etc.)
- Participate in on call rotation with team members to provide 24x7 technical support for Unix classified lab work stations, servers and services
- Multi-protocol platform environment experience
- Ability to communicate well with end users and client management
- Overall server cluster architecture design and deployment
Basic Qualifications: - Hands on experience with various technologies and skills including: networking, security, Linux and kernel hardening, systems integration, advanced troubleshooting, and authentication/authorization services
- 5+ years Linux (SuSE is a plus) experience in a medium to high complexity production environment Clustering, Patching, Configuration Management and Control methodologies
- Experience in implementing and documenting systems for high volume production environments
- Excellent troubleshooting skill and ability to understand complex relationships between components of the overall systems architecture
- Solid knowledge of operating system internals, file system structures and machine architectures
- Ability to monitor, analyze, test and tune the operating system
- Broad knowledge of networking and networking applications
- Advanced Linux experience
- Familiarity with Intel-based server hardware
Familiarity with network and system security tools Experience with SAN technology is a strong plus - Experience with Network Security and Intrusion Detection Systems
- Security conscious and thorough understanding of fundamental
networking principles, including protocols such as TCP, UDP, IP v4/6
