Software Engineer–GUI

Summary:

We are looking for well-rounded developer with experience in Java web development, including familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, linux, and application servers. This person will be responsible for developing a Java web-based application that manages BlueArc’s NAS servers and dependent devices. 

Responsibilities:

• Design, code, and troubleshoot major and minor features while focusing on a high-quality user experience. This position requires hands-on effort throughout the entire development life-cycle.
• Take initiative to improve the user interface and incorporate new technologies.
• Proactively work with other engineers to ensure consistent design and compatibility with all interfacing products.
• Solve complex problems and drive results independently while sharing progress and knowledge with others.
• Maintain existing code.
• Work with QA to ensure the code delivered is of high quality.
• Take on additional tasks that contribute towards team and company goals.

Qualifications:

Skills

• Excellent Java skills, including:
  • Working knowledge of core libraries
  • Object-Oriented (OO) design skills
  • Strong understanding of concurrency issues.
• Excellent communication skills.

Knowledge & Experience

• Experience in storage-related industry, Network Management Systems (NMS), and/or Linux appliances is highly desired.
• Minimum of 5+ years experience working with Java and web technologies.
• Hands on experience with technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, DHTML.
• Some development experience in a Linux/Unix environment, including:
  • Bash shell or Perl scripting
  • Familiarity with Linux CLI
• Experience with UI design, mockups, and usability guidelines desired.
• Preference will be given for knowledge or experience with C++, AJAX, Swing, J2EE, JSP, Ant, Web Services, SOAP, XML, and Photoshop.
• Referrals and sample screen shots may be requested.
• Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.  Must pass company’s technical review.
