Systems Administrator
Location: Downtown San Diego
Pay: Depends on experience
Status: Nonexempt Full-time/Direct-hire position (eligible for overtime)
The primary function of this position is to provide network administration, and manage network related projects as assigned by manager.
Education/Training/Experience/Licenses:
Bachelors degree in a computer related field required or equivalent experience.
MUST have active Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) required.
MUST have active Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) required.
MUST have active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.
Minimum 4 years applied systems administration in a Windows 2003 environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong working knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows networking, Active Directory, Exchange 2003/2007, IIS, SMS, clustering, load balancing, HP Proliant servers and SAN technologies.
Familiarity with Backup technologies, SharePoint, MS SQL Server, and Microsoft Office.
Team player with demonstrated ability to interact in a positive, respectful manner and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with demonstrated ability to analyze information, problems, issues, situations and procedures to develop effective solutions.
Ability to display excellent customer service to meet the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.
Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills to identify critical core competencies based on success factors and organizational environment.
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, multi-task and manage time.
Demonstrated accuracy and productivity in a changing environment with constant interruptions.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to speak clearly, see, and hear other personnel and/or objects.
Physically capable to stand, sit, kneel, crouch, and climb. Capable of using hand tools and manipulation of small parts.
Frequently lifting equipment up to 40 lbs.
Environmental Conditions:
Normal office setting, minor noise, frequent interruptions.
Occasional dust accumulation around and in equipment.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions
70% Provides Network administration.
Tests, installs and configures new network related hardware and software.
Performs daily network administration tasks.
Stays current on updates and service packs for network operating systems and software.
Maintains tape backup systems and coordinates off-site storage.
Coordinates with application development team to maintain successful integration between desktops and custom applications.
Implements and maintains corporate email system; storage area network (SAN); server clusters and load balancing; and web servers, security, backup/recovery, IIS and related problems.
Coordinates firewall, VPN, switch, and router installations and modifications.
Remains on call 24 hours a day.
10% Acts as second-level technical support and backup
Provides support to systems support technicians for high-level support issues.
Performs end user technical support as needed.
Acts as backup for systems support supervisor and help desk as needed.
5% Attends industry seminars, conferences, training classes and reads industry journals to stay current on technology.
5% Prepares and submits written progress reports, spreadsheets, timelines and other written documentation as directed by manager.
5% Attends team, departmental, and staff meetings to discuss issues and foster teamwork.
5% Performs all related duties, as assigned.
