MUST HAVES (In order of priority):

1.  Candidate needs to have experience or growth capability to move into a supervisory position as our division here in San Diego grows.  I am not looking to hire a CM data entry person.  Supervisory would mean managing 1 or more data entry people in the future.

2.  Conversely, needs to be "hands on" willing and capable to fulfill near to intermediate term CM data entry needs in San Diego.  This means CM experience with BOM entry, ECOs, part numbering, product release.  Essentially a 1 person shop initially with resource support from our “out of state” CM team as needed.

3.  Must have experience and knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) and manufacturing practices in a hardware product production environment.  Candidate will interface / be a liaison between engineering and production for product release processing and engineering pre-release management (i.e. prototype and beta product build tracking).

4.  Must be highly detail oriented.  High accuracy is a mandatory.

5.  Working knowledge / experience with SAP a big plus.

SUMMARY:

• Configuration Management is a critical function supporting company’s business of providing integrity products and services to meet or exceed the expectations of our customers.  The role is responsible for ensuring data integrity, adherence to company procedures and meeting scheduled commitments.

• The CM Specialist will be responsible for leading company’s San Diego Configuration Management duties in support of Product Development and life cycle support activities.  The position will require the CM Specialist to assist Product Development teams, Engineering Services, Programs, Sales and Operations groups in releasing and controlling H/W and S/W configuration items within the SAP Material Control module.   The successful candidate will have to demonstrate an ability to work well within a services oriented environment and have a working understanding of Product Development and Production processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leads all company’s San Diego Configuration Management activities in strict compliance with established company AS9100 certified processes.  This leadership may involve supervision of full-time and contract administrative / data entry personnel.
• Review CM requirements associated with new products / programs and work with product management and engineering to establish new BOM structures and other CM planning to optimize product release and sustaining engineering.
• Manage CM request queue and work flow (w/Sharepoint) in collaboration with company’s “out of state” CM team.    Perform weekly planning and scheduling in collaboration with program managers and PDM stakeholders to properly set expectations for product release, ECOs, BOM entry, etc.
• Perform hands on CM actions as required including:
• Assign and manage document and material numbers;
• Monitor and process data items, S/W, documentation and drawings for each baseline;
• Process data items for different control levels (Database,  linkage to a material master, data items on a controlled Bill Of Materials);
• Create BOMs and complete updates after the Allocated baseline has been reached;
• Review BOMs for CM requirements and release;
• Review Engineering Change Requests for CM requirements and prepare for Configuration Control Board(CCB review);
• Coordinate the implementation of Engineering Change Orders, Program Instructions, Waivers and Material Substitution Requests;
• Creation and release of Product Variants (Material/BOMs/Data items);
• Obtain required approvals for drawings and BOMs.
• Create purchase requisitions for SD Engineering;
• Create material reservations for SD Engineering;
• Create S/W CD's for SD sales orders;

SKILLS:

• Supervisory experience in managing CM / product development administrative activities.
• Understanding of AS9100 / ISO9000 Configuration Management practices;
• Experience supporting a Product Development environment for Circuit Card Assemblies;
• Experience supporting an electronics manufacturing environment;
• Hands on experience and current expertise with SAP and / or another industry leading MRP system (Agile, Ask, etc.)
