Systems Engineer
Location: Sorrento Valley
Contract: 4-6 months (possibly longer)
MUST be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
Position Summary:
The Systems Engineer/Architect will provide technical leadership as well as participate directly in projects involving the design of embedded systems and the associated software and electronics. The systems include SBCs, DSPs, peripheral I/O circuitry, power electronics and custom packaging for military applications.
Position Responsibilities:
• Provide system architecture definition based on required functionality.
• Develop and maintain system requirement specifications and system interface design documents, i.e. ICDs, Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Reports and support the development of SRS and HRS documents.
• Participate in all system and subsystem hardware and hardware/software integration and acceptance testing.
• Support development for system, hardware and software requirements and design to assure system requirements are met.
• Perform/coordinate various analyses in support of detailed design of components, major assemblies, software and systems.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to work with customers and suppliers in defining system level and component level requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Desired experience includes: circuit design and prototyping, microprocessor circuitry, power electronics, real-time processing, serial digital interfaces, Built In Test (BIT), embedded system integration and debugging. Familiarity with standard communications protocols (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, MIL-CAN, etc.).
• 8+ years of related product and system design experience.
• Desired applicant should have strong written and interpersonal skills.
• 8+ years of engineering experience including 3 years of systems design, analysis, implementation and troubleshooting of embedded systems.
• Familiarity with FARS, MIL standards and the ability to apply the underlying principles to system design.
• Experience in preparation of system requirements with emphasis on system integrity, reliability, maintainability, and fault mitigation.
Minimum Education Requirements:
• Bachelors degree (BS) in systems, electrical, or aerospace engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have developed within the Defense & Aerospace embedded environment.
