Hardware Engineer

Location: Sorrento Valley
Contract: 4-6 months (possibly longer)
MUST be US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

SUMMARY:

We are seeking an Hardware Engineer with a broad skill set, including digital and analog circuit design, PWB experience, cabling and interfaces, physical layer signaling, EMI/EMC protection, and power electronics.  Primary responsibilities will be to support new product development in designing and implementing electrical aspects of systems consisting of embedded CPUs, I/O cards, power supplies, and backplanes.  Responsibilities also include researching of new technologies, contributing to product definition and architecture, design reviews, and performance analysis.

EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with digital and analog circuit design, including passive filter design and EMI/EMC suppression circuitry.
• Experience with VPX, VME and Compact PCI backplane design.
• Provide input and guidance to Circuit board PWB design and development.
• Schematic capture (DX Designer, ORCAD, PADS, P-CAD)
• Experience with high speed interfaces such as SATA, SRIO, PCIe, USB, Ethernet, Video (DVI, RS170, VGA).
• Understanding of Asynchronous/Synchronous Serial (UART, RS-232, RS-485), SPI, SCI, USB, I2C and TCP/IP communications protocols.
• Ability to use electronic test equipment: oscilloscope, digital multimeter, signal generator, frequency counter, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer.
• Assist with qualification testing, including thermal, EMI, and EMC under Mil standards.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in Electrical Engineering.  Master’s level degree preferred.
• 5+ years experience in engineering development environment.
