Job Description:

Principal Software Sustaining Engineer (location: Ocala, Florida)

Location: Ocala, Florida
Status: Full-time/Direct-hire
NO TELECOMMUTING

MUST HAVES:

• 7- 10 years experience in embedded systems software development (design, implementation, testing and maintenance of networking software)
• Candidate work style skill set needs to be: flexible person who thrives in change environment, results-oriented, strong time-management skills, a team player, & is a person who has excellent communication skills.
• Extensive experience sustaining, troubleshooting and debugging customer issues.
• Extensive experience developing software in C and C++.
• Ethernet solutions experience.
• RTOS, multi-threading, high-availability, carrier grade and scripting.
• Experience working with IGP routing protocols

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshoot critical product issues and provide solutions for our embedded ARM based firmware; windows based management application and Production Test System.
• Work closely with Applications Engineering, Customer Service, Product Verification and Product Development groups.
• Reproduce problems; develop solutions and unit test scenarios.
• Augment Product Verification test plans to include specific issue coverage.

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated ability in sustaining engineering, preferably within a start up operation.
• Hands on experience with product test, debugging and issue resolution.
• Experience with IP data networking and protocols.
• Skilled in the use of C/C++, ARM development tool chain, In-Circuit Emulators.
• Proficient with Perforce Source Control or similar.
• Experience with Windows GUI and application development.
• Skills to balance testing on multiple simultaneous projects and product releases.
• Skilled using tools such as: SmartBits, IXIA/Chariot, Sniffer, Ethereal and other similar network test and analysis systems.
• Comfortable dealing with customers externally and cross-functional teams internally.
• Education: BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent required. MS preferred.
• Travel: about 5% (Most project meeting take place via video conferencing.)
