Space Optical Instrument Engineer Laurel, MD MH 804
Expected Job Duties: - Experienced, hands-on optical instrument system or lead engineer to lead optical instrument development efforts, proposal efforts, and monitor new developments in the state of the art and with our competition.
- Lead or System Engineer for optical instrument development.
- Perform hands-on optical instrument development tasks including optical testing, alignment, calibration, contamination and integration.
- Take lead in support instrument proposal efforts.
- Track new development in industry and efforts of tour direct competition
Required Skills/Education: - BS physics or Optics or equivalent in a discipline related to remote sensing (e.g. Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Astronomy) and a minimum of 7 years experience in developing space optical instrumentation.
- Must have hands-on experience with most of the following: optical testing, alignment, calibration, contamination, and integration.
- Must have significant experience in both Lead/System Engineer roles and in writing major proposals.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Desired: - Experience with Zeemax (optical design tool) and/or ProE (mechanical design tool).
- Experience with optical detector development.
- Radiometric system design experience
