Grove Resource Solutions, Inc. (GRSi) Mechanical Engineer MH 842
Location: The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Laurel, Maryland
Level of Security Clearance: SECRET (GRSi will help process)
Expected Job Duties: The candidate should have the skills and personality to be the lead mechanical engineer for several different types of space instruments including optical, particle, gamma-ray, x-ray, and neutron spectrographs, and magnetometers. - Design, oversee the drafting and fabrication of, assemble, test, and qualify space flight instruments.
- Design mechanisms for space instruments. Design mechanical GSE and test fixtures.
- Interface with system engineer, lead engineer, scientists, thermal and stress engineers as part of development process.
- Assist in the development of proposals.
- Participate in the internal research and development.
Required Skills/Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in performing mechanical design and development of space instruments or equivalent including some mechanism design experience.
- Must be experienced with Pro-E, must have the ability to work well in a team environment and to carry tasks to completion.
Desired: - Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years experience performing mechanical design and development of space instruments or equivalent and should have mechanism design experience.
