| | | Position: | Creature TD (Maya) | Department: | Production Technology | | Reports To: | Director of Technology | Start Date: | ASAP | overall accountabilities | | The Creature TD is responsible for evaluating the needs of the modeling and animation departments. The creation of effective controls and their documentation is essential in order to meet the expectations of the modeling and animation supervisors. The Creature TD must assist in the development of a production ready process of creature modeling and creation. | duties | | -
Responsible for evaluating any issues that may arise in the rigging and enveloping of creatures, and devising efficient solutions. -
Devise and innovate methods of working with skeletons, modeling geometry and weighting that meet our production requirements. -
Create scripts in Python allowing automation of specific tasks. -
Collaborate with the animation director in the testing of characters, and provide timely solutions to any problems that are discovered. -
Apply effective communications skills in order to work as part of a production based team. | qualifications | | -
A thorough understanding of geometry creation, weighting and skeleton rigging. -
Deductive methodology with proven application of problem solving skills. -
4+ years of professional experience and / or a strong portfolio of work. -
Clear understanding of character rigging methodologies and good understanding of automating processes for animation rigging. -
Creative troubleshooting and problem solving skills involving both bipedal and quadruped characters. -
Ability to create scripts to assist in the animation process. -
Production knowledge of Maya, MEL and Python required. -
Anatomical knowledge is a necessity. -
Experience with multiple 3D packages. Knowledge of Linux preferred. -
Must be able and willing to be relocated to our office and legally work in Canada |
