Overall Accountability

The Facial TD is responsible for providing the facial shapes, rigging and weighting of characters.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Building weighting, and maintaining facial rigs.
  • Supporting Animators with rig issues and working with TD’s and Developers on character rig optimization.
  • Train and mentor Animators on facial rigs.
  • Liaise with the Production team, including Animators and Directors with regards to requirements for facial rigs.
  • Attend regular production and department meetings.
  • Liaise with Lead Facial TD and keep current with regards to new developments in facial rigging.
  • Meet or exceed the deadlines as set out by the Production and the Rigging Schedule.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years rigging production experience or the equivalent in Production.
  • Thorough knowledge of XSI and Maya.
  • Experience with setting up animation facial rigs and working with animators and other Facial Rigging team members.
  • Good understanding of automating processes for animation rigging.
  • Good knowledge of MEL/Python/vbScript is an asset.
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
  • Good artistic skills; demonstrable ability to make creative and aesthetic judgment calls.
  • Must be proactive.
