Position: Network Infrastructure Engineer - MS systems (Intrepreneur)

Reports to:  Vice President of Innovation

 

Description:

Ambassador has an immediate opening for a Technology Manager to work side-by-side with the VP of Innovation to both manage the current infrastructure needs of a medium-sized solution development consultancy as well as launch a new product-based venture built around innovative technology in our core areas of strength.  While the initial work and responsibilities will be more focused around the infrastructure support aspect of the job, the eventual transition into product development, marketing, and support forms the most important selection criteria to be used in the candidate selection process.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Support and maintenance of all technology infrastructure components owned and consumed by Ambassador Solutions, Ambassador Studios, and Ambassador Financial.  This includes, but is not limited to:

• End-User Support- Desk side support and Remote help desk

• Desktop, Laptop, and Phone provisioning, configuration, and maintenance

• Account and permissions management

• Network servers provisioning, configuration, and maintenance

• Virtual Infrastructure management (VMs and SAN’s)

• Application management (Email, Database, Web, SharePoint, TFS, etc…)

• Backup and disaster recovery planning, maintenance, and emergency management

• Network monitoring, Firewall/VPN/IP services management, and security risk auditing

• Asset management, Capacity Planning, and Vendor Management

Implementing infrastructure improvements within project lifecycles including network enhancements as well as creating (developing/programming) software enhancements on existing platforms such as SharePoint.

 

Working closely with the VP of Innovation to refine ideas and approaches for the launch of Ambassador Studios and eventually move into a leadership position within that entity.

 

Qualifications:

The following qualifications are required for consideration for this role:

• Current MCSE or 5 years experience supporting a Microsoft-based network infrastructure with at least 10 servers and 50 users

• Experience with direct end-user (developers) support

• Proven accomplishment as a driver of multiple concurrent projects

• Thrive in a fast-paced environment and able to juggle, shift gears and maintain a sense of humor

• Excellent business communication, writing and interpersonal skills

• Ability to learn, unlearn, and relearn quickly and with minimum frustration

• Proactive and solution-oriented when managing issues

• Practiced in negotiating with others in ways that result in win/win agreements and outcomes

• Demonstrated analysis/assessment capabilities

• Comfortable speaking/presenting/training to medium sized groups which may often include C-Level executives

• Creative spirit willing to take appropriate risks to achieve results

The following qualifications are relevant for this role, however they are not all required for consideration:

Experience maintaining the following technologies:

• Microsoft Active Directory

• Microsoft Exchange Server

• Microsoft SQL Server

• Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS)

• Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager

• Microsoft Hyper-V Technology, VMWare ESX Server, or Virtual Iron

• iSCSI SAN Infrastructures

• Interactive Intelligence EIC Server and VoIP SIP Phones

• Social Media and various Web 2.0 idioms, strategies, and innovations

Experience developing software with the following technologies:

• HTML/JS

• MS SQL Server

• MS SharePoint Technologies

• C# .NET (pref. 3.5)

• WPF/Silverlight

Experience with the following processes:

• Operating an end-user support help desk

• Operating a tier-2 network support desk (for developers)

• Leading small teams on projects using PMBok-Based SDLC and Agile-Based Methodologies

• Defining vision/strategy and building/executing a plan based on them

• Product development, marketing, and support lifecycles

• Basic financial reporting and forecasting

 

Availability Requirements:

This position is available immediately, but does not require the successful candidate to be.  A standard 2-4 week from offer letter acceptance is expected.  This position does require physical presence at our Carmel, IN based office on a daily basis.

 

Travel Requirements:

Less than 5% (if any) is foreseen at this time.

 

Compensation Package:

A competitive salary plus bonus plan will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their experience and potential.
