Applications Engineering Manager
Summary of Job Duties:
Work with customers and sales account managers to grow business, while managing a team of RF internal and field applications circuit engineers. Semiconductor components emphasize RF amplifiers, but may include mixers, switches, converters and/or modulators with their associated application circuits. The head of applications engineering must work closely with marketing, and engineering to understand market requirements and disruptive technology trends to help develop the strategic product roadmap.
Work with development group and marketing during the complete development cycle to ensure the product meets market/customer requirements and appropriate training, reference designs, and application notes are in place to have a complete product solution for the customer.
Specific Job Duties:
- Manage a team of internal and field applications engineers residing at corporate headquarters, Europe, and Asia.
- Be the primary technical interface with customers to advise the performance characteristics of WJ devices and recommend particular devices for an application. Determination of customer requirements for specific applications.
- Creation and updating of written collateral material to provide more technical information with products to customers and sales staff.
- Work with worldwide sales staff and customers to generate new design wins.
- Develop reference designs for customer evaluation of semiconductor components.
- Test and alignment of RF circuits including the use of standard RF test equipment.
- Data analysis of performance characterizations of RF amplifiers, mixers, and other components.
- Working with marketing staff and customers to help develop new product ideas.
- Analysis of competitor's products.
- Travel of up to 30% may be required.
Qualifications:
1. BSEE with emphasis on RF design, MSEE preferred. Study emphasis should include analog / RF / microwave circuit design.
2. Seasoned Leadership skills with ability to mentor, coach, hire and build a strong team.
3. 5 years of relevant RF circuit design.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to manage direct teams and demonstrate ability to work with and lead cross-functional teams
6. Proficiency with device and circuit simulation. Experience with ADS or Microwave Office are desired.
7. Hands-on experience with RF test equipment.
8. Be familiar with RF heterodyne system configuration and requirements.
Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
