Job Description:

OVERALL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Design, execute, and interpret experiments to support the development projects of the Company. Assist in defining project or programs objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

         Assist associates in set-up, adjust and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.

         Investigate, create, and develop new methods and technologies for project advancements.

         Participate in design of experimental protocols and select methods and techniques to perform purification process development experiments in support of current project strategies.

         Make detail observations, compile and summarize data, prepare analyses, reports, and graphs, interpret data, and assist making recommendations.

         Document procedures in laboratory notebooks. Keep notebooks legible and up-to-date.

         Write research reports and give oral presentations of data at departmental staff meetings or interdepartmental meetings.

         Contribute to scientific journal publications; write relevant sections of CMC for IND.

         Provide technical assistance to staff and associates based on expertise.

         Maintain high level of professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature. Ensure implementation of cGMP by employees and associates.

         Prioritize and identifies daily work activities to achieve department objectives.

OTHER DUTIES:

         Perform instrument maintenance and trouble-shooting when required.

         May be responsible for identifying patentable inventions.

         May be accountable for the performance of direct reports and oversee daily work activities

         May train and/or provide guidance to lower level scientific staff members.

         Draft protocols for process validation studies.

         Participate as a team member in fostering teamwork and supporting teamwork.

         Other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or experience:

         Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry or related field with 2-5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; or BS/MS in related field with 5-7 years of relevant experience.

Special skills/knowledge:

         Broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories in protein purification methods and technologies.
