Our client is seeking a Quality Assurance Tester. The Quality Analyst is responsible for the planning, design, and execution of application and system testing on simple to complex implementations.  Responsibilities include all components related to application testing (test planning, test script creation, test execution, test validations, and test results documentation and review).   The individual for this role will work collaboratively within the IT Department and business units to execute and validate test cases based on functional requirements.   The individual will identify and document software defects when performing test case execution in a fast-paced, fluid and changing environment.

Major Tasks:

• QA analysts need to execute stored procs and be able to understand them. 
• Ability to write queries including simple joins and are able to write update/delete scripts. 
• Ability to understand and dig thru the data in the databases.
• Develop test plans, test cases, test scripts and test reports on multiple work efforts of varying sizes
• Support all types of testing efforts (including but not limited to functional, system integration, regression, etc.) determined necessary for assigned work efforts
• Review functional and technical requirement documents to ensure requirements are testable
• Perform testing on various software and telecom systems
• Validate that user expectations are achieved during the testing process
• Document and report defects for the work efforts being tested
• Identify and communicate business risks relative to testing and implementation for evaluation
• Work with business analysts and project managers to determine the most effective testing and inspection strategy for work efforts of varying complexity and size
• Ensure that defects uncovered in the test are recorded, summarized and utilized in post reviews in an effort to improve the development and test processes
• Provide detail status reporting on work efforts (includes test case numbers, percentages complete, etc.)

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Minimum 1-4 years Quality Control experience in a testing role
• Experience working in a manual and automated environment
• Working knowledge of software testing methodology
• Working knowledge of full lifecycle development, including the ability to perform requirements tracing and validations during Quality Control testing
• Familiarity with all aspects of Quality Control testing of software, including unit, system integration, functional, and regression testing  
• Experience preferred in performing Quality Control Testing using industry standard enterprise testing tools (such as HP, Borland, or Compuware)
• Strong skills in writing SQL for data validation
• Experience testing in a Java, Unix and Oracle environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite:  Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
