Job description:  Manage a global department of skilled network & telecommunications project managers, engineers, administrators, and support personnel.  Ensure smooth operations of global voice/data communications and proactively address issues.  Proactively monitor the deployment of new communications infrastructure and provide guidance to maintain scheduled milestones.  Facilitate capacity and availability management program and deploy infrastructure communication monitoring capabilities.  Conduct employee performance reviews and drive continuous improvement efforts.  Maintain global departmental budget and perform other administrative duties.  This position reports to the global Director of Infrastructure & Operations.

 

Main Accountabilities:

 

  Lead the successful deployment and operation of Global network & telecommunication infrastructure including wide/local area data networks, voice systems, voice mail, network accelerators, firewalls and related devices

  Manage a team of skilled networking project managers, engineers, administrators, and support personnel

  Support adoption of global change initiatives within their department

  Direct corporate strategy and ensure compliance of architecture standards, and policies

  Direct service providers and vendors to ensure delivery in a secure and cost efficient manner

  Technically mentor staff on emerging technology and establish business cases for adoption

  Monitor and proactively manage communication capacity making alterations to meet business needs

  Architect data and voice network solutions

  Establish component monitoring tools to quickly identify emerging issues and take action to resolve

  Support Capacity and Availability Management ITIL processes to drive continuous improvements

  Assign work tasks to staff meeting project milestones and operational support expectations

  Optimize staff allocations to timely deliver projects initiatives; Ensure over allocations are avoided

  Coordinate cross functional efforts within the IS/IT management team

  Manage employee performance, provide constructive feedback, establish / measure objectives, and conduct career planning sessions

  Oversee staff skills development and establish training curriculum per employee

  On time, on schedule delivery of network & telecommunications projects

  Meet annual budget commitments and revise targets as requested

  Cross trained staff avoiding single point of knowledge for a given technology

  Managed travel, training, and holidays to ensure appropriate operational support coverage

  Infrastructure availability and performance meets business expectations

  Minimized business disruptions by proactively monitoring and managing infrastructure

  Reduction in non-standard technologies

  Proactive management of aged infrastructure

 

Dimensions:

 

  Cisco is the standard for LAN / SAN switching, routing, fabrics

  Avaya is the standard for IP Telephony

  BMC Remedy is the IT Service Management toolset

  Microsoft Windows Server is the primary operating system running on Hewlett-Packard servers and storage

  Microsoft SQLServer is the database standard

  SAP is the primary business system driving the most significant infrastructure needs

  Domestic and International travel will be required up to 30% of the time

Skills and Knowledge Required:

 

   Excellent technical understanding of communication infrastructure

   Technical certifications for communication technologies a plus, CCNA, CCNP, etc.

   ITIL Foundations Certified with advanced certifications a plus

   Operational Experience with ITIL processes and Expert level knowledge in Availability and Capacity Management

   Strong experience managing large enterprise solutions, equipment and architectures with at least 7-10 Years of experience in a global IT service organization

   Analytically minded and methodical problem solver

   Ability to lead a team of IT professionals and delegate assignments

   Good communication and interpersonal skills

   Proven track record of successful delivery of IT projects

   Excellent understanding of structured project management techniques with the ability to mentor others

   University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical discipline

   Experience operating within a multi-cultural environment

 - Fluent in English with other spoken languages a plus
