Reporting to the Operations Committee of the Learning Disabilities Association of British Columbia, this Part-time position will accomplish the following:
Mission Overview
An estimated 1 in 10 British Columbians have a learning disability. Currently there is very little in-person family support outside of Greater Vancouver and Greater Victoria for a family impacted by a learning disability. The LDABC has a mission to provide online communications and networking support for people impacted by learning disabilities in British Columbia.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
Assist in compiling and reporting out to the community relevant research and information on the activities of LDABC using web-based communications tools.
To grow the online community and drive web traffic to www.ldabc.ca using stories of success.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work as an integral team member of the Operations Committee which will include people with LD, teachers, parents (and caregivers) to develop and execute on an online communication strategy.
- Liaise with Volunteer Research Assistant (Job Description can be provided) who will be tasked with researching, preparing, and writing key external communication messages used to promote LDABC activities and incorporate the content for online communications.
- Produce audio, video, photographic and text content for online distribution.
- Help build and maintain a database of key influencers who would assist the promotion of LDABC initiatives to the LD and general community; including (but limited to) people with LD, caregivers, funding agencies, government representatives, professional organizations, business community, and media outlets.
- Develop effective online communications relevant to media outlets, corporate partners, professional advisors, government ministries and charitable foundations.
- Liaise with Communications Advisor who will help advise on communication messages.
