Our client is a medium to large sized multi-disciplinary engineering contractor based in Cape Town, South Africa. They have an excellent pedigree and a very strong order book.

They require a Commercial Manager for one of their operating companies (Electrical Contracting) who will oversee the commercial management of tenders, contracts and projects.

The incumbent will be accountable for the following:

• Sourcing required tender information from suppliers and consultants.
• Tendering on capital and maintenance projects.
• Quotes to customers.
• Effectively negotiate service levels and pricing with suppliers.
• To attend to all contractual correspondence.
• Manage site-generated quotes.
• Approval of major purchase orders.
• Prepare monthly cost versus revenue reports for management.

Key Performance Indicators would comprise:

• Timing and accuracy in the submission of all tender documentation.
• Inflation costs control (supplier negotiations).
• Risk evaluation.

The ideal prerequisites for this position are:

• Tertiary education in Quantity Surveying.
• 5 years foundational experience in the construction industry.
• Experience in interpreting and presenting CIDB tender and private sector requirements.
• Experience in conducting business activities with RSA parastatals.
