Description
The Network Administrator IV will ensure the stability, integrity and performance of all data and storage networking based services. This will be achieved through participating in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and troubleshooting of all WAN, LAN, Internet, wireless, data center and storage interconnect networks, communication links and associated hardware and software. As a member of a team that provides 24 x 7 x 365 operational support for an enterprise class healthcare organization, the Network Administrator IV must be willing and capable of performing hard core hands on data and storage network management activities. Success in this role demands solid technical knowledge and experience, excellent organizational skills and an eagerness to do whatever it takes to get the job done effectively and efficiently while continually challenging and improving the status quo.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, computer information systems, or computer engineering preferred.
One or more of the following certifications is mandatory:
Brocade Certified FCoE Professional, BCNE, CCNA (voice, wireless, and route/switch), CWNA, CWNE, and CCNP (route/switch, wireless, security, voice), Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure Support Specialist or other relevant professional level certification.
Knowledge & Experience
General
6-8 years of proven and progressive data and storage network enterprise services infrastructure support and implementation experience.
Solid grounding in information processing principles, practices and demonstrated ability to perform troubleshooting of complex cross functional problems.
Capable of working effectively with minimal direct supervision.
Relies on experience and exercises some judgment to perform job duties.
Previous experience in enterprise class healthcare organizations is strongly preferred.
Familiar with fundamental data and storage network based security concepts & data privacy practices.
Technical
Skilled with scripting and automating execution of configuration and data collection tasks utilizing tools and languages such as CatTools, PERL, Python, TCL/TKL, SQL, JavaScript, Cisco EEM etc.
Familiarity with a broad cross section of IT technologies and disciplines including wintel architectures, *NIX, SAN, enterprise healthcare class applications and their interactions.
Ordering, provisioning, turn up and troubleshooting of enterprise class telecommunication lines (Metro-E, DS-3, OC-3 etc.)
Solid theoretical knowledge and hands on experience configuring, troubleshooting, and managing most of the following software’s, protocols and technologies:
o Enterprise class SAN switches & directors, routers, switches, load balancers, network security appliances, WAN accelerators, and intelligent port aggregators and taps.
o SAN interconnections: FCP, ISL, E_Port, ELS, CHC, RSCN, FAIS, multipath, zoning, LUN masking, WWN, SNS.
o Switching- L2 fundamentals, iVLANs, 802.1q, 802.1w, ISL 802.1d, 802.1x, TLB, SRB, VACL’s, Link and Port aggregation, SPAN, RSPAN, ERSPAN, CEF, CRB, MLS, LAN aggregate policing, etc.
o Routing- Routing fundamentals, BGP, EIGRP & OSPF, route filtering, redistribution, summarization, routing protocol and routing convergence fundamentals.
o Security controls- Storm control, COPP, 802.1x, port security, DHCP snooping, RPF, PVLAN, DAI, IPSG, ACLs, RACLs, VACLs, CBAC, CAR, NBAR. Secure appliances (Firewall, IPS, VPN, etc), TACACS+ , RADIUS, LDAP, PKI
o VPN & RAS- IPSec w/ GRE, DMVPN, DVI, SSL VPN, GRE, mGRE and other RASs
o HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, content switches, reverse proxies, SSL accelerators content cache systems.
o Wireless- RF Fundamentals, RRM, Roaming, 802.11a/b/g/n, WEP,Cisco LEAP, WPA/WPA2, EAP-Fast, EAP-TLS, PEAP, RADIUS, LDAP authentication.
o Network Management- SNMP, RMON, Netflow, Syslog, enterprise class network management/monitoring systems (HP Openview, CA, NetQoS etc.), protocol analyzers.
