Why does my formatting change when I paste from an Office application into MaxHire?

Problem: When I paste text from Word or Outlook into MaxHire, sometimes the resulting text will have unexpected changes to the formatting.

This happens because Office uses a proprietary form of HTML code called Office HTML. Office HTML code is not compatible/interchangeable with the standard HTML formatting used in MaxHire. When you copy data from an Office application, this proprietary Office HTML code is also copied to the clipboard. This can result in formatting issues when pasted directly into MaxHire, as behind-the-scenes the Office HTML code gets ”intermingled” with the standard HTML code.

MaxHire recommends that you compose your text and apply all formatting directly in MaxHire using the built-in HTML toolbar.

Sometimes it may be necessary to copy text from an Office application. You can prevent any HTML formatting issues by pasting the information in plain-text format.

  1. Highlight the source text and click Edit > Copy to copy it to the clipboard.

  1. In MaxHire click Window > Scratch Pad.

  2. Press CTRL+V to paste the text from the clipboard. The Scratch Pad in MaxHire is "formatting neutral" so any information pasted in will appear in plain text with all of the Office HTML code removed.
