Resumes have incorrect formatting and no letterhead when opened from Outlook

Problem: When I open a resume attached to an email in Outlook, the formatting is incorrect and the letterhead does not display.

 

 

This error occurs when Word displays the document in Reading Layout format. To correct the problem, click View > Print Layout in Word to view the document with its original formatting and letterhead.

 

 

If you save the document from the email to your hard drive and open it in Word, it will be set automatically to Print Layout. Microsoft designed Word to default to Reading Layout only when you open the document from Outlook. This functionality is built in and cannot be changed.
