High speed Internet connection such as DSL or cable.
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2000 or Windows NT Service Pack 4 (Not compatible with Windows 98 or ME).
Administrative rights on your computer allowing you to install software. (Contact your system administrator if you are not authorized to install software on your computer.)
256 MB of RAM minimum, 512 MB recommended with Windows XP.
1024x768 screen resolution with high color or better recommended.
Important: Outlook
2002 Users
Outlook 2002 SP3 is not compatible with the MaxHire Outlook Add-in. Upgrading to Outlook 2003 resolves the issue. Microsoft acknowledges this issue and resolved it in Outlook 2003.
Go to http://www.maxhire.net/Setup_MaxHire.exe to start the download (95 MB, approximately 10 minutes on DSL).
When you are prompted to save or open the file, click Save.
Save the file to an easy-to-find location like your desktop.
Once your download is complete, close all programs (Outlook, Word, etc.) and save your changes to avoid losing data.
Double-click the Setup_MaxHire.exe file
to start the installation.
Follow the installation instructions on your screen. You may need to restart your computer at the end of the installation.
Double-click the MaxHire shortcut icon
to open MaxHire.
When installing under Windows Vista, the installation process may appear to hang near the end of the install.
To resolve this issue:
You will notice a Microsoft
Windows item minimized on your Task Bar.
Click the Microsoft Windows
item to restore the Window. Click Close
the program.
The MaxHire installation
will then complete. Click Finish.
Important Note for Personal Firewalls
If you are running a third party firewall program such as Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm or McAfee Security, you may receive a security warning when launching MaxHire for the first time. You must configure your firewall program to permanently allow access to MaxHire. If you are having difficulty connecting or are accidentally denied access when prompted, please see the troubleshooting topic on configuring your personal firewall for use with MaxHire.
