I get an error code 300 when I try to log on to MaxHire

Problem: I get an Error Code 300 when I try to log on to MaxHire.

When you launch MaxHire, Error Code 300 appears if your computer can make a HTTP connection (web site connection) to the MaxHire server but cannot launch the MaxHire application.

Verify that the MaxHire server address is set to connect.maxhire.net. If the server is set correctly, 99% of the time this message appears when a firewall on your computer is blocking access. This may occur when you use MaxHire for the first time or after a program update (software release when a new application file is automatically downloaded to your computer). The other 1% of the time, this problem may be related to incorrect proxy server settings.

Configuring your Firewall to allow MaxHire Internet access

To configure your firewall to allow MaxHire to access the Internet:

  1. Disable your firewall.

  2. Log on to MaxHire. If you do not receive an Error Code 300, the firewall is blocking Internet access.

  3. Configure your firewall to be compatible with MaxHire. Common personal firewalls include: Norton Internet Security, McAfee Internet Security, Trend Microsystems and Zone Alarm.

Configuring your Proxy Server settings to allow MaxHire Internet access

To configure your proxy server to allow MaxHire to access the Internet:

  1. Contact your company's network administrator for the correct proxy server address.

  2. If you do not use a proxy server but accidentally or incorrectly entered a proxy server address, you must update or remove the proxy settings.
